The Phenomenology of Sainthood in the culture of dreams in Kurdistan
My principal research interests lie in the field of visual anthropology and anthropology of dream/unconsciousness. I am currently working on my PhD thesis, mainly investigating the Kurdish culture of water and its impact on their culture of dreams and dream narratives. My analysis on their dream narratives is based on intensive ongoing interviews recorded in Sanandaj (central city of Kurdistan province in Iran) and mostly with dervishes of Qāderie brotherhood. My research plan is to work on dreams narratives as a joint structure that inter-connects its dreamer/narrator to the symbolic order of his/her society (i.e. “ego” with “ego denunciation” (šekastenafsi) as a social value.)
I have a particular expertise and interest in screening anthropological ideas by means of graphics, ideographs and animation.
