Population, Land, and Agriculture in South India between Late-Eighteenth to Early 20th Century
India experienced conspicuous structural change in the transient period between the late 18th century and the late 19thcentury. Pre-colonial share-based society was transformed to land (lot)- based society during the course of early colonial rule. This lecture investigates and clarifies how this structural transformation was related with the demographic change and the development of land and agriculture from the late 18th to the early 20th century.
